Please Support the Public Health Dental Hygienist (PHDH) Bill [SB 1982]
IFLOSS would like to ask for your organization’s support of IDHA’s PHDH Bill (SB1982). Currently, PHDHs can provide early care to patients in a public health setting, such as an FQHC; a federal, state, or local public health facility; Head Start; a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) facility; a certified school-based health center; or at school-based oral health program. In 2023, legislation added the public health settings to include prisons, skilled nursing, and long-term care facilities.
The current bill (SB 1982) removes language listing specific practice settings (a full list of additional settings is listed on the Fact Sheet) and allows the written collaborative agreement between the collaborative dentist and PHDH to specify where the PHDH may practice.
